Math Concepts and How We Study for it

he subject math has many topics to discuss and these topics are sometimes difficult and complicated. Students dislike math because of the many different topics that are mostly difficult to understand. There are terms to remember, formulas to memorize, and concepts to understand. In this article then, we are going to tell you about math and what we could do in order to improve our performances with regard to tests and exams.

First off, we are going to talk about a specific topic in math which is the bell curve. The Culture SG will be the one to explain about it.

Since many students were asking, I thought I’ll roughly explain the bell curve and its distribution properties.

Before that, I thought I should mention that I’m not really sure myself if Private Candidates and School Candidates share a different bell curve. I doubt so, since all take the same subject code, there should be no differentiation as there will be bias. And I do not really see a particular need for them if all the students take the same paper. There is no differentiation between taking the paper again and first time too, it doesn’t mean that you take it twice, you have a higher chance/ lower chance. They should be competing in all fairness still.

If you are looking for an A’ Level Maths tuition centre for A’ Levels, you can try H2 Maths tuition at Advo Education. They feature ex-MOE teachers and have a wealth of prior teaching experience. If you need help for it urgently, they also have topic-focused intensive courses to help you improve quickly and effectively. If you are serious about improving your grades, you should check out their site here:

A bit of intuition of how this bell curve thing works. We can’t have too many A’s. If ALL the JC students were to score zero mark and no student deviate (cheat), then all of you will get A. Similarly, if God answered all your prayers and ALL JC student were to score full marks, then all will get A. The curve attempts to distribute proportionally the results of everybody based on the marks, and place you in the correct percentile (probability). Read more here.

Now we know what a bell curve is, how it works and what its distribution properties are about as well. So if we ever encounter them in class, we at least have knowledge about it already. Now, let us talk about examinations. Paul Dawkins will give us some tips on how we should study for exams.

Studying for Exams

Here are some tips on studying for exams.

  • Start on Day One. You should always be studying for the next exam.  Do a little each day, or at the very least start studying 2  3 days before the exam.  Do NOT start studying the night before the exam.  Cramming, while a time honored college tradition, just doesn’t work as well as spending time each day studying, especially with a math class.
  • Get a Good Night’s Sleep. Get a good night’s sleep the night before the exam.  It is important to be well rested and mentally sharp when you take the exam.
  • Make a List of Important Concepts/Formulas. Review your notes and make a concise list of important concepts and formulas.  Make sure you know these formulas and more importantly how to use them! Read more here.

If you are about to have an exam, we should also try having a practice exam at home, and in this way you would be able to know if you are ready enough and would also be able to identify what you need to review again. Now, we are going to read about an article by Grade Solution which is about how we could score for JC H2 math.

This post will teach you how to score for JC H2 Math

Junior College (JC) is probably the toughest period in a student’s life. The amount of content to learn, absorb and apply in 2 years is really immense. I came from National JC and the thing I remembered most is the lack of sleep during those days. Lectures and tutorials are conducted at breath-taking pace and everyone has difficulty keeping u . I had to sleep late at night to finish the tutorials. As a result, my energy was drained in the day-time and I always sleep during the lecture. Since I didn’t listen in lectures, I always lag behind what the teachers teach in school and I have to do a lot of self-revision.

In my personal opinion, JC H2 Math has the highest jump in difficulty from Secondary Math. The difficulty didn’t jump so much from Primary to Secondary. But when it comes to JC H2 Math, even students who are very proficient in Secondary Additional Mathematics are struggling badly in JC H2 Math. JC H2 Math consists of 60% pure Math and 40% statistics. Pure Math include those topics which you learnt in Secondary School like Differentiation and a lot more. Statistics is a new field which JC student must study. It includes probability, permutation and combination and lots more. Being strong with Algebra is only 1 part of the equation. You must know your Trigonometry formulas at your finger tips, master lots more Differentiation and Integration techniques, and grasp a strong understanding of Probability and Statistics. Read more here.

One thing we could really do is to seek a good tutor. There will always be times when we would get hard up on lessons and the time in school is not enough for you to ask your teachers about it. That is why tutors are there to help you with it. There are different concepts and topics in math that needs to be studied well so we have already given you some tips to help you have a well performed and answered math.

A Good Online Appointment System Should Have These Features

While it is a known fact that there is no dearth of online appointment systems to choose from, it can be quite a difficult take to make your final decision. The decision you make can have a big impact on your business. Plus, you can save plenty of money and time by doing it right for the first time.

For a good online appointment system, you should consider ATT Systems. Their system can capture bookings at any time and remind clients not to have No Show bookings. If you are looking to purchase an Online Appointment Management System do check out their site above.

Check out some of the top features of a good online appointment system.

1. Should allow payment processing
An entrepreneur requires software which enables them to take payments from clients while they do the booking. When the application facilitates payment processing, payment can be taken securely much ahead of time, do not have to handle money or cards while the appointment is being taken and so on. It also enables an entrepreneur to accept payment in more than one currency.

2. Online booking page should look professional
A good online appointment system should have intuitive, clean, and professionally designed booking page. Such features will definitely trigger more bookings. Hence, it is important to ensure that your online booking process is simple and is completely customizable so that it can be added seamlessly to your website. Try to have a link to it included in your Facebook and other social media sites.

3. Online booking page should be accessed from any place
Today, the working style has drastically changed and employees or entrepreneurs no longer sit in front of their computers for the entire day. Rather, business owners are busier handling clients or making their business trips. It is highly likely that an entrepreneur manages their business via their tablets or phones. Hence, they need to ensure that their online booking system follows them wherever they go and enables them to know whenever any change is being made by a client. After all, you would hardly like to travel for hours only to find out later that the appointment has been canceled by your client when you were not in.

4. Round the clock booking
When your clients get an opportunity to book their appointments online, you get a lot of free time to develop and expand your business. Having 24X7 booking facility will mean your customers will use your application for booking rather than going to a business rival.

5. The online system should be able to reinforce a brand
Your website represents you and your business as your potential customers get an opportunity to interact with it rather than meeting you first. So make sure that the online appointment system should reinforce your brand so that your customers feel a sense of familiarity with you and your business.

DNA Profiling – How You Can Do It

DNA profiling is basically a process by which certain DNA pattern, known as the Profile is collected from a person or a tissue sample.

Despite the fact that we all have our unique DNA, similarities might occur between two individuals. However, in some region, the disparities between the DNA of different people are very high; this is basically referred to as polymorphism. Every human on the planet inherited a unique pattern of polymorphisms from their parent. The DNA polymorphism is what is analyzed to gain insight into a given DNA profile.

The human DNA profile can be used in identifying the source of a DNA that is found at a crime scene or to test if two people are related. Below are some of the ways DNA profiling is used today.

  1. To identify the origin of body fluid that is found at a crime scene.
  2. To determine if two people are related
  3. To identify accident or disaster victims

In recent years a lot of people who were convicted of crimes they did not commit have been released. This is possible because of the DNA profiling. And it is been used in practically every industry today. For other uses on DNA profiling, such as in healthcare, you can read here:

Short tandem repeats

The current techniques used in DNA profiling involve the use of polymorphism that is known as short tandem repeats. The Short tandem repeats is a region that consists of non-coding DNA that has repeats of the same nucleotide. The STRs can be found at different locations in the genetic loci in the DNA of a person.

DNA profile- what is it?

One of the most effective ways to produce a DNA profile is through the examination of STRs at ten or more genetic loci. These loci are usually located on different chromosomes.

A DNA profile can provide insight in determining if a DNA sample is a male or female, it can also tell who a particular genetic sample belongs to.

Next, we are going to discuss the step by step method on how you can create a DNA profile through the use of STR.

Step 1

Find a sample of DNA

DNA can be found in most of the cells in the body, including semen, body tissue and the white blood cell. DNA traces can also be gotten from body fluids like sweat and saliva. DNA can be found in the saliva as well as in body fluids because they contain epithelial cells.

At a crime scene, police officers and forensic scientists collect samples of DNA so as to locate a suspect. DNA can also be collected directly from a person’s mouth through the use of a mouth swab which is able to collect the cells in the inner cheeks.

Step 2

Extracting the DNA

Basically, DNA is wrapped by a nucleus of cells. In order to extract the DNA, you have to break these cells through the use of certain chemicals. When this is done, you will be able to isolate the DNA from other cell components.

Step 3

Copying the DNA

Most of the time only a very small amount of DNA is available for forensic analysis, so PCR is used to get enough DNA to make a complete profile.

Step 4

Find out the size of the STRs

The size of the STRs is determined through the use of a genetic analyzer.

Step 5

Check if there is a match.

The number of times a sequence is repeated in an STR is calculated to determine the size of the STRs. You can use the information from this to determine if a tissue sample is from a particular person.

What Is Foreign Worker Insurance?

Any firm that employs workers from outside the country must comply with the rule of the land. One major criterion being that foreign worker insurance must be in place. This is not at all dependent on designation or status. The coverage must be during the duration of employment. Let us look at the different types of insurance that are included in this vast domain.

Medical Insurance

Many senior level employees ensure that they get family insurance too.

Accident Insurance

Skilled and unskilled workers need to be covered the moment they land in a foreign country. In case of an accident during working hours or even after work hours, the employee is entitled to treatment. In case of a serious injury, all the costs will be borne by the insurance provider. If for any chance the employee is incapable of resuming duty because of a serious injury at work, he will be entitled to a suitable compensation along with free airfare back to his parent country.

Life Coverage

Companies that employ professionals from other nations have to provide life insurance coverage as a part of foreign worker insurance. Every employee must ensure that he reads the content of the offer letter, which provides him all the necessary details prior to joining a firm overseas. Home Insurance Is Essential To Protect Your Home

Irrespective of whether you have settled your mortgage or purchasing a new house, you may have often wondered whether you really need to purchase home insurance or not. Your home is likely to be the most precious assets that you acquire during your lifetime. You and your investment can be protected by purchasing homeowners insurance in various ways.

Here are some of the most important reasons why you should contemplate purchasing homeowners insurance

Home insurance may be needed

When you have taken a mortgage, the lender may ask you to purchase homeowners insurance as a requirement. Prior to financing for the mortgage, your lender may usually ask you to give evidence that your house has been insured properly. The reason is that the mortgage company wants to be certain that there is protection for the financial investment it makes in your house in case your house gets damaged due to a fire or some other risks

But, when you have not availed homeowner’s insurance coverage, your lender could purchase coverage and then charge you for its cost. However, you should remember that the policy procured by your mortgage company is likely to be costlier than what you could have bought yourself and may provide limited coverage.

Protects not just your home but can do much more

Though standard homeowners’ coverage helps to protect your home, the scope of its coverage can go beyond your home’s physical structure. It can extend to your personal belongings that you have kept in the backyard of your home or medical bills when a guest sustains injury. While staying in your house, homeowner’s coverage may also include the following:

Guests: When a visitor gets accidentally injured while staying in your house, the guest medical protection clause of your policy can help you to pay their medical bills.

You as well as your family: When any of your family members or you are found liable for damaging the property of somebody accidentally or injuring somebody, coverage can be helpful for paying medical bills, legal fees, and related repair expenses.

Personal property: Such coverage can be helpful to pay for replacing specific belongings such electronics and furniture, which are damaged or robbed y a loss covered in the clause.

Your dwelling: When your house and other attached structures like a garage or decks get damaged by a peril that is covered, this policy can be helpful to pay repair costs.

Allegiance takes care of all your insurance related services or levy Bond.
